Enjoy the history of this wonderful survivor of the
Victorian era. This imposing residence was built in the Colonial
Revival style in 1912 by John Wesley Massey (1867-1938), the Southern
Railway Station Master, and his wife, Lula (Thurston) Massey (1868-1963)
on property she had inherited from her family, the owners of the
renowned Thurston Freight Company.
Today the Wagner recaptures the warmth and spirit
of Victorian Time. The Wagner's central portico of paired columns
dominates the front facade and projects in front of the wrap around
porch, and balcony. There are several hand carved intricate mantels
over the fireplaces and the spacious foyer and center hall have
picturesque staircases.
